Psalm 27

"The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked, even my enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident. One thing have I desired of the  LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple. For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock. And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD. Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me. When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek. Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation. When my father and my mother forsake  me, then the LORD will take me up. Teach me thy way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies. Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty. I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD."

Encouraging Verses

"It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD. It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth." - Lamentations 3:22-27

"But though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies. For he doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men."  -Lamentations 3:32,33

Anger

Many times, I find myself getting angry, or at the least, aggravated. As my greatest desire is to be like Christ, I decided to research some Scripture concerning anger. Here is a little of what I've found.

God does not become angry quickly.
"The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy." - Psalm 145:8
"...but thou art a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness..." - Nehemiah 9:17

It is foolish to become angry quickly.
"Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools." - Ecclesiastes 7:9
"He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly:..." - Proverbs 14:17

It is wise to refrain from becoming angry.
"He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city." - Proverbs 16:32
"The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression." - Proverbs 19:11

God commands us to 'put off' anger.
"But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth." - Colossians 3:8
"Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you." - Ephesians 4:31,32

I know that I have not even scratched the surface in finding all the Bible says about anger. But, in just these few verses,  I have learned a lot. My prayer is that God will help me be forgiving, and to always respond with a compassionate, gracious, and merciful attitude.

A Few Favorite Verses

"I would seek unto God, and unto God would I commit my cause: which doeth great things and unsearchable; marvellous things without number:" - Job 5:8,9

These two verses in Job have always meant so much to me. Verse 8 is my own heart's desire--to always seek after God, and to commit all to Him. Verse 9 shews forth the might and majesty of my God in such a way that  always brings me to a place of awe and praise toward Him!

"I will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works. I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High." - Psalm 9:1,2

What a wonderful Lord I serve!!
